Hello, all! Glad to share with you again this week!

Scott and the rest of the BDM Work Camp group made it back safely after a wonderful and safe week serving in Kentucky. While it was just me and dog at home this past week, I was here quite a bit, but also enjoyed the beautiful fall weather we’ve been experiencing while cleaning up my garden and flower beds.

This week we had Commissions and Church Board meetings in preparation for our Fall Congregational Business Meeting. If you haven’t already, be sure to add that meeting date, Wednesday, November 12th, to your calendar. As is every Congregational Business Meeting, these gatherings are important opportunities for you as a church member to hear about the current workings of the church, evaluate financial positions and celebrate what God has done in our church family over the past few months!

We had another wonderful time of fellowship and discipleship at this past week’s Wednesday Roots Night. It’s so lovely to see you all there enjoying a meal together. But more than that, what a joy it is to serve alongside of SO many of you! I was marveling with some other volunteers later last week about how amazing it is that so many of you stepped up to pour into the hearts and lives of our Roots Kids!

This week I’ll join in for our regular COM Board meeting. Be prayerful over the many, many little hearts that are cared for by the talented staff of the various COM ministries. I’ll also jump back into a professional development program that I really enjoyed last year, CONNECT Kid’s Ministry, hosted by Lancaster Bible College. This group meets monthly and discusses various topics in the Kid’s Ministry space. I enjoy attending with Kerri and Amanda from time to time, so we can learn together! I’ll end the week with our church-wide date night, a gathering that Scott and I really look forward to! Grace Marriage has been an exciting addition to our church ministries. If you’re not joining in yet, you’re missing out! It’s a rolling attendance, meaning you can join at any point in the year. Reach out with questions!

On my list for this week includes preparations for Advent and Christmas Eve, how wild! As well as Sunday School curriculum proofing, another podcast episode among some other administrative items. There’s also a few items on my list related to “The Big Drop” event. I am excited about serving alongside of many of our church family members as we provide a fall family event for Solid Rock Youth Ministries. Sign-up to serve in the Gathering Area; whether in time, materials or financial contributions. Sign-up to participate on our website, or here: https://www.mgcb.org/events/the-big-drop/2025-11-05

What I’M Learning This Week: Sharing what I’m reading and listening to lately

I was responsible for devotions during this morning's staff meeting and chose to read an entry from the “Upon Waking” devotional by Jackie Hill Perry.

This entry was based off of the scripture in Mark 8:23-25. The devotional highlights the fact that Jesus does a “double healing” of the blind man; not because he didn’t do a good enough job healing him the first time, but because he is teaching his disciples, and us, that we need Jesus’ grace upon grace to help us see Him in full.

She ends this devotional with this… “The Scriptures hold out to us the same question Jesus posed to the amongst-blind man - “Do you see anything?” Answering the question Scripture asks of us will reveal how full or dim our sign might be so that by our confession God can deepen our spiritual depth and increase our understanding of His Son. We need Jesus to lay His hands on us again and again until that day when finally we shall see Him as He is.”

So what do you see? Trees or people? Would Jesus heal us again and again until we can finally SEE.

Make Every Week Count: Parenting, Grandparenting & Spiritual Mentoring Resources

Something to Read: I have been finding much joy in preparing our teaching materials for our current Roots Night unit on The Trinity! This book has been a helpful supplement in the process. I highly recommend “The Joy of the Trinity: One God, Three Persons.”

Something to Listen to: This new song came out recently, it’s a song of praise and a song of prayer. It feels fitting for all that we carry - Be Close, Matthew West

Something to Follow: This is a sweet little article, ready for the hearts of all of our moms - biological, but spiritual too. Give “Drips of Discipleship” a read.
