I am writing this on Wednesday as the next two days will be very busy with our daughter’s wedding Friday afternoon.  We have our first house guests arriving tonight and others will be coming into town tomorrow.  Lots of details still need to come together but we are excited for Tessa and her fiancé Everett who will be joined in holy matrimony Friday afternoon at 2:30 pm.  We are praying that the weather holds for the planned outdoor service at the church.

I was able to offer a few home communions this week and make some visits earlier in the week.  Loren Bucher is now at Newport Meadows Rehabilitation in Christiana.  Cinda Showalter is at LGH but hoping to be released by the end of the week.  Dennis Findley’s knee replacement surgery went well on Monday.  We also received word that Marilyn Moses passed away on Wednesday this week.  We encourage to be praying for our BDM missions team that will be leaving early Sunday morning for a week of service in Kentucky.

Last Saturday I was blessed to be part of the wedding of Alexus Ravert and Wade Davis.  They had a beautiful ceremony on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.  Be sure and extend congratulations to our newlyweds if you see them in worship Sunday morning.  Last Sunday was our first Sunday back with both an 8:15 and 10:30 worship service and things went well.  We also held our Love Feast service Sunday evening.  This week we continue our preaching series “Just Like Jesus” as we consider the listening heart of Jesus using the parable of the soils from Matthew 13 as our biblical text.

A number of church events are coming up this month including the Dutch Blitz tournament, a hiking group outing this Sunday, two events for our older adults the week of October 20th and as you learned on Sunday, The Big Drop is coming in early November.  And yes, we are already planning for Advent and the upcoming Christmas season.  Be sure to check out the bulletin for all the things that are happening in the life of the church.

Well, I think it is safe to say I have wedding fog going on in my brain, so I am going to wrap this up for the week.  Ruth and I and our family are excited for Friday and having friends and family in the area for our celebration.  Since there is no Men’s Bible Study this Saturday, I will be taking a few days to enjoy the blessings of family.  And while Friday will be special for us, it will also remind me that Sunday is coming.  I look forward to another Lord’s Day celebration with you.

Have a blessed weekend and we will try to have a picture of the bride and groom for you next week.  While it is a special Friday for us, the good news is that Sunday’s coming!
