Hello again, friends! It’s a snuggly kind of day out there, so I’m just sipping my coffee a little slower today. I’m happy to say that the coffee I’m sipping is a Daily Grind brew, a simple joy of mine that I’m grateful to be able to add back into my morning commute occasionally!

Yesterday was a busy, but wonderful day of worship together. Thank you to all who served in many different ways to help make it so! Here’s a few announcements and upcoming events to highlight…

  • Wednesday Roots Night, this week! Family Dinner at 5:45pm in the Family Life Center and then age-specific Discipleship groups at 6:30pm.
  • Dutch Blitz Tournament, this Friday at 6:30pm! All ages welcome! Refreshments first, games begin at 6:45pm!
  • CROP Walk, this Saturday! Walkers depart at 8am!
  • Mother’s Ministry, next Friday (10/24) either in the morning at 10am or in the evening at 6pm. Reach out to Paige Herr with questions!
  • October Church-Wide Date Night, next Friday (10/24)! Joining Grace Marriage is open every month, you didn’t have to start with the group at the beginning of the year! See one of the Facilitator couples with questions (Dave and Diane Herr, Jim and Deb Krantz, Mike and Tracy Mauger, Jeremy and Lauren Stoltzfus, Jeremy and Ann Shelly)
  • The Big Drop! Fall Family Event with Solid Rock Youth Ministry, Wednesday November 5th, 5:45-7:30pm
    • This community outreach event is being HOSTED by the Mechanic Grove Church family in partnership with Solid Rock Youth Ministries. This event is our Fall Wednesday Roots Night Family-In-Service Project.
      • We do these intergenerational service nights on Wednesday Roots Nights twice a year.
      • This events are designed for you to serve ALONGSIDE your biological and spiritual family members, every generation together!
    • We need households (this is not just for families with children!) to serve together to supply, set-up and staff various fall/pumpkin-themed activity stations for Solid Rock and Local Community Families to participate in.
    • We also need households to prepare and serve the meal that evening, as well as collect materials for the various activities.
    • Invite your friends and neighbors! This event is for Solid Rock Families, but all families are welcome to participate! The event is free, but registration is expected. You can find more information and the registration link on our website.

Don’t miss out on opportunities to grow and serve together over the next few weeks!

We’re going to blink and be in the midst of the beloved Advent season. Until then, mark your calendars so you don’t miss out! There’s something for everyone in the church family!

What WE’RE Learning This Week: A nugget of what our Lil’, Youth and Adults Roots heard this week

Our Family Theme: God Sent Jesus to Rescue Me From My Sins

Our Root Text: Romans 5:8

How Every Generation Lives This Out: Talk as a family... Why did God send Jesus? Why do we need Jesus? Do we deserve Jesus?

What I’M Learning This Week: Sharing what I’m reading and listening to lately

I was reading Matthew 11 this morning. The chapter ends with verses we’re all quite familiar with. “Come to me, all you are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-32).

The Bible Recap episode for this chapter reads these verses with emphasis on several different words in verse 28. COME to me, all you who are weary… Come to ME, all you who are weary… Come to me, ALL you are who are weary… Come to me, all you are WEARY.

Later in the recap, she mentions the idea of picturing Jesus saying these verses right to you.

Picture Him saying, right to your soul… COME. Come to ME. Come to me, ALL of you. Come to me, WEARY one. He says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. So, come.

Make Every Week Count: Parenting, Grandparenting & Spiritual Mentoring Resources

Something to Read: I’ve always had a strong appreciation for the materials that She Reads Truth produces. They recently released a new devotional called “The Bible Is for You: A Devotional Journey Through Every Book of the Bible.” It’s simple, yet intentional and would make a great Christmas gift for friends!

Something to Listen to: This new song popped up this week and it’s based on the Sermon on the Mount! I can’t be the only one missing FAMJAM, so give A HOLY MESS a listen!

Something to Follow: RightNow Media has a lot of wonderful resources, we have lots of collections of studies to share with you all, if you click on our church logo when you log-in to the site. I’ve recently added some resources to the “Gender Identity and Sexuality Resources” channel. Check those out sometime!
